As you know, Eve loves to throw rocks into the water. Well now she's discovered she can throw other things and at our kitchen floor of all places. Yesterday I was making lunch for a friend who is in the process of moving so I was letting Eve play in the kitchen while I was frantically making quesadillas and smoothie. Eventually Eve crawled into the dishwasher where she usually carefully unloaded the dishes putting them up on the counter. As I was getting a bag to load up the lunch in I hear glass shatter. I run into the kitchen just in time to Eve throw another glass onto the floor, which luckily didn't break. As she grabbed for a third glass I picked her up, trying not to laugh to myself at the whole scene.
Fast forward a couple of hours and we are home again getting ready to go to the lake. Eve was holding to ceramic mugs and walking around while I was gathering up swimming suits and towels. Wham! She had thrown a mug on the floor with the handle breaking off spreading shrapnel all over the kitchen floor, again. I grabbed the second mug as she was raising it above her head.
And you thought I was done. Oh no. As I was making dinner I gave Eve a little bowl (ceramic again) filled with dry cheerios that she could snack on. She started throwing the Cheerios all over the floor so I picked her up to move her out of the kitchen when she throws the bowl to the floor and it shatters. Now I understand why my parents invested in all pewter dishes.
P.S. Eve is wearing the linen pants I made last week while Scott was on a river-rafting trip with the young men from our church. I should say, those are the second pair that I made; the first pair are big enough for me to wear as shorts. And I won't tell you how many seams I had to un-stitch or how long it took me. They're wearable and that's all we're going to focus on here.

Raised in a small South Dakota mining town where he learned the value of a sturdy pickaxe and native tubers, Scott is a man's man who knows the meaning of the word testosterone. Apart from devouring freshly slain beasts of the forest, Scott enjoys sharpening his tools, lifting heavy objects, and throwing a ball at a hoop suspended ten feet off of the ground. He also enjoys Romantic Era poetry and Italian cooking.
