That's one way to cut costs

I took this picture of the inside of our fridge a few days ago. Full list of items:
peanut butter
left-over chili from a friend
Eve's bowl of quick oats & milk left-over from who knows when
milk (almost gone)
butter
pepper corns
empty salad spinner
yogurt
butter milk which expired a month ago
a couple of carrots
tahini paste
two jars pickles
dried apples
boiled eggs

Still haven't had the courage to go to the grocery store by myself with both kids and as a result I am predicting our grocery bill is going to be a bit smaller than previous months.

A word about the boiled eggs. We always have some on hand since they are a healthy cheap snack and will occupy Eve for a good 5 minutes as she peels them. But an unlooked for benefit is how much fun it is to see what cool shapes they can make if they happen to explode while boiling.

Tummy-Time Excercises

Here's Eve giving Oak support while he does his daily push-ups.

Poor Oak is still a bit unstable.

Baby Booties

The other day I had a baby shower to go to and used that as an excuse to make these baby booties which I've been wanting to for a while. They were much easier to make than you would think and have a lot of room for creativity (especially if the baby is a girl). I had some leftover wool felt from making Christmas stocking and so used green for the upper part and cream (not shown) for the sole. They were fairly quick and easy, didn't use much fabric and everybody loves homemade gifts so all in all it is a winner. Here's the link to the pattern if anybody is interested.

Subaru...Honda...Toyota...Oh my!

Scott and I have been talking tonight about the fact that if we ever want to have more than two children we will need to by a bigger car. I never realized cars were so horribly expensive and now that I have a two year-old that hasn't yet learned how dangerous cars can be I've decided that I don't like cars. Why can't we all just live like this?

My life these days

Trying to teach Eve how to be soft with a baby. Complicated by the fact that she's a two year-old with bounding with energy and I'm keeping her cooped up indoors all day because I'm still too nervous to go out on my own with the kiddos.

And then there's Oak. What can I say? He's wonderful. He sleeps through anything. Loves to nurse, burp and cuddle. And his diapers don't knock me over each time I change it. The only thing is that I wish he could smile. Right now yawning (see below) is about as animated as he gets. But all in due time.

Oak in Deep Meditation

We expected him to start levitating at any moment.

Here's Oak at two weeks. Note the Eve scratch under his right eye. I suspect there will always be some sign of Eve's affection until he gets big enough to fight back.
